 | Dear Colleague,
Welcome to the 7th edition of the Community Active Careers “Work that Matters” e-newsletter.
It has been a fun and inspiring year full of challenges and successes. We have been out there in the community raising awareness about job pathways and career opportunities in the Community Services and Health industries.
We hope that we have been able to increase national industry engagement in supporting young people’s career and transitions into further education and work opportunities.
The Community Active Careers team would like to thank all those schools, Career Advisers, parents and young people who participated in our events and assisted us in our work.
A special thanks to all the industry representatives working with us supporting our initiative, and are part of our working groups.
And lastly, a sincere appreciation to all the Regional Industry Career Advisers who assisted our project throughout the year by connecting us to Local Community Partnerships and to local businesses and communities.
The Community Active Careers’ team hope you find this edition motivating and useful, and we look forward to providing you with more news, events and information in 2009.
With sincere thanks,
Isabel Osuna-Gatty

Career Expo Julie Pope, Regional Industry Career Adviser Region 51 Western Australia, invited health professionals from across the Pilbara region to participate in regional career expos and try a trade events. Professionals from several sectors attended the expos to promote the Health Industry to the students. Health streams included: Physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy, midwifery and registered nursing. All the displays were interactive allowing the students to gain hands on experience in these fields. The dedication and happy disposition of the “healthies” impressed students and demonstrated a side to the health system rarely seen.
