Employer Engagement With Vocational Education and Training in Australia This paper, from NCVER, is a review of literature on employer engagement with vocational education and training (VET). The main conclusion is that the major form of engagement is through the competency-based training system, which is manifested through training packages. Another way employers are encouraged to engage with VET is through competition amongst training providers. This provides employers with greater responsiveness and choice.

Australian Government Announces VET Reform The Australian Government has announced its plans to improve the articulation and connectivity between the university and vocational education and training (VET) sectors. Speaking at the Big Skills Conference in Sydney, the Minister for Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, Julia Gillard, said the Australian Government wants to ensure the nation’s vocational and academic systems ‘speak a common language’ - which will help address Australia’s ‘knowledge economy needs’.
