The theme for the 2009 conference is Future Focused Partnerships, which reflects the need for enterprises, industry associations and government to form partnerships and develop a clear blue print to focus our industry and to ensure it has a solid future. Every year the conference builds on the success of previous years, with this year’s conference featuring a local and international perspective on the changing economic times. The Scan reflects on the substantial changes to the world economic climate and the subsequent impact on the skills pool. These changes have not diminished the need for implementing a nationally recognised workforce development system. It is crucially important that our industry use this time to solidify, re-skill and up-skill the existing skills pool to ensure a viable future. Rationalisation Project ProgressThe submission for endorsement of the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package (RII09) to the NQC is now scheduled for March/April 2009.
