Enterprise Based Productivity Places Program (EBPPP)

The Minister for Education, Julia Gillard, has announced that up to $25 million will be provided to fund Enterprise Based Productivity Places Program (EBPPP) training for existing workers. The EBPPP builds on the successful National Enterprise Productivity Places Program trials conducted in 2008 and 2009.

In the new round, eligibility will be extended to include national professional associations and industry bodies, enterprises and businesses that operate across a number of states and, importantly, small and medium enterprises as well as national enterprises. More…….

SkillsDMC has submitted a proposal to The Hon Julia Gillard MP, Deputy Prime Minister’s office for our industries fair share of the announced funding.

SkillsDMC and Agrifood joint project

AgriFood Skills Australia and SkillsDMC are jointly running a model for Cross-industry Training & Workforce Development Regional NSW. This initiative aims to develop and trial a cross-industry, entry level, on-the-job training program that prepares participants to enter three industries within the North West region of NSW. These industries are Mining, Agriculture and Local Government (Civil Infrastructure). More........

SkillsDMC Industry Project Updates

Development of NEW Geoscience Units of Competency - SkillsDMC has held an initial round of consultation with industry stakeholders to develop the NEW geoscience units of competency and qualifications. The next step is to establish a Project Steering Committee and then commence the next round of industry consultation. More........

SkillsDMC announces appointment of WELL Broker - SkillsDMC is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Natt as the new English Language Literacy Broker (WELL) Broker. Chris commenced the role in October 2009.

It is anticipated that the project will easily reach its target, with most applications expected to be lodged by the end of January 2010 for DEEWR approval. More........

MINE Project update - SkillsDMC Mining Industry Network of Excellence (MINE) Project commenced in September 2009. The key objectives of the project are to:
• Build capability and capacity for industry to take leadership and ownership of skill formation to achieve ongoing growth, success and sustainability.
• Increase RTO competition within the state for the mining sector
• Accredited training becomes cost neutral

Dysart State High School students go underground
Ten students from Dysart State High School who are currently completing their Certificate I in Resources & Infrastructure Operations (RIO) were recently able to experience a ‘day-in-the-life’ of an underground coal mine operator at Anglo Coal Moranbah North Mine. More.........

Apprentice Kickstart kicks off today - Media Release, 1 December, 2009
The Rudd Government is urging employers to act quickly to capitalise on the extra funding on offer to take on a new apprentice under the $100 million Apprentice Kickstart program which starts today.

Minister for Employment Participation Mark Arbib said the Government was more than tripling the commencement bonus for employers who take on a traditional trades apprentice from today until February 28, 2010. More.........

QMEA & Moranbah State High School lead National Education  - Media Release
Through the Qld Minerals and Energy Academy, thirteen students at Moranbah State High School in Central Qld, are the first graduates in Australia to achieve a Certificate II in Resource & Infrastructure Work Preparation.

This qualification, from the recently endorsed RII09 – Resource and Infrastructure Industry Training Package, developed by SkillsDMC, provides the students with the skills and knowledge required by industry to commence a safe and productive career pathway in the resources sector. More.........
