SkillsDMC e-newsletter 25 - November 2010

Dear Colleague,

SkillsDMC farewells CEO

We have all heard the expression “The only constant is change”. As Des Caulfield departs the role of Chief Executive Officer of SkillsDMC to move towards retirement, he will dwell on the changes he has seen as a valued leader and contributor in reforming Australia’s Vocational Education and Training (VET) System.

Des has played a key role in VET in Australia for over 2 decades and his achievements are well known. He has been a person of principle and integrity in pursuing industry leadership for VET in Australia, most recently for the Coal Mining, Civil Infrastructure, Quarrying (Extractive), Drilling and Metalliferous Mining industry sectors.

The current stature of SkillsDMC as an industry organisation and the strength of its partnership and stakeholder relationships with governments, industry and VET participants is a testimony to Des’ tireless efforts in pursuing a more industry relevant VET System in Australia.

Personally, I wish to extend the gratitude of the Board and Staff of SkillsDMC to Des for his contribution and their best wishes for his future pursuits. On a personal level, I want to acknowledge Des achievements and that I appreciate that I will be the beneficiary of his legacy inheriting a high performing organisation. He will be missed.
