Dear Colleague, Enterprise Based PPP
SkillsDMC has forwarded 41 funding applications, on behalf of 61 enterprises, to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) under the Enterprise Based Productivity Places Program. The SkillsDMC submission is part of the $25 million of funding support made available by the Australian Government. SkillsDMC will advise enterprises if they have been successful and will implement the program in accordance with the guidelines on our website. More.... Resourcing the FutureThe Prime Minister, the Hon Kevin Rudd MP, on 1 September 2009 announced the establishment of a taskforce to help secure the workforce needed for major resources projects and to sustain the resources sector into the future. The taskforce is led by the Hon Gary Gray MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Western and Northern Australia. It comprises a range of stakeholders from industry, the education and skills sector, and government. The Chair of SkillsDMC, Ray Barker, is a member of the Skills Reference Group. The taskforce is required to report to the Government by mid-2010 with a plan to address the skills and labour needs of the resources sector. More.... Developing Skills for SuccessThe inaugural Project Steering Committee meeting for the joint SkillsDMC and AgriFood Skills Australia project, Developing Skills for Success, will be held in Narrabri on 24th February. The project is aims to develop and trial a cross-industry, entry level, on-the-job training program that prepares participants to enter three industries within the North West region of NSW. These industries are Mining, Agriculture and Local Government (Civil Infrastructure). More.... Civil ITEP – NT Final ReportThe Civil ITEP final report for the Northern Territory, Roads to Sustainability – Building Civil Construction Capacity in Indigenous Communities, and the strategy document, Training and employment strategy, are available for download. More.... New National VET RegulatorOn 7 December 2009, the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) agreed to establish a national regulator for VET. This announcement is, in part, due to requests from the Australian VET sector, for nationally consistent regulatory arrangements. More.... New Licence RecognitionThe signing of the Mutual Recognition (Maritime and Other Occupations) Declaration 2009 has resulted in a number of new occupational licensed areas recognised as equivalent across Australia. More.... Strengthened Standards: AQTF 2010The recent COAG meeting saw the endorsement of new AQTF 2010 Standards. In early February, NARA will host a workshop for the NARA Auditors to discuss the AQTF 2010 Standards and work towards a consistent approach to interpretation and implementation. More.... Consultation - National Standardisation StrategyThe National Standards Advisory Committee has developed a consultation paper, A National Standardisation Strategy for Australia.
